Living walls on buildings act as air filters to fight air pollution. Air pollution in cities is a serious environmental problem – especially in the developing countries. The long-term effects associated with air pollution are chronic asthma, pulmonary insufficiency, and cardiovascular diseases leading to infant mortality or chronic disease in adult age. According to a Swedish cohort study, diabetes seems to be induced after long-term air pollution exposure.
